Like every year, this year also this Ashrama organised annual competitions for school and college students from August 20 to August 27, 2017. The competitions consisted of many events like Recitation, Essay, Speech, Quiz, Music, Sit & Draw and Pratibha khoj. For every event all the registered participants were divided into groups on the basis of their classes viz. 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10 and 11 to Undergraduate. The purpose of these competitions was to get the students exposed to our great cultural heritage and the powerful speeches and writings of Swami Vivekananda. We believe that the students have a very impressionable mind and if we mould them now, it would decide the furture of our country. The selected themes and passages were taken from Swami Vivekananda’s writings and speeches. The speech and essay competitions were held in English & Hindi languages and recitation competitions were held in English, Hindi, Bengali & Sanskrit. Music (Vocal), Quiz, Sit & Draw and Pratibha Khoj competitions were also held. Through these competitions, students were exposed to Swamiji’s ideas of man making, character building education. This year nearly 3550 students from 31 education institutions of Ranchi and adjoining areas took part in the various competitions. To cope up with this huge response each category was divided into several groups. In all 46 such groups were formed and prizes were awarded to the best performers in each group. In all 235 students were selected for prizes. All the events were keenly contested and were of very high standard. Participants had come well prepared and it was delightful to witness their performance, giving impression of a very positive step towards achieving the goal of man making and character building education.
The prize distribution ceremony was held on 9th September, 2017 in which Padmashree Ashok Bhagat, Secretary, Vikash Bharti, Bishunpur, Gumla was the Chief Guest. He gave away the prizes to the winners.
Delhi Public School, Ranchi students performed well and secured highest position with 68 prizes consisting of 22-1st prizes, 25 -2nd prizes, and 21-3rd prizes. The Arun Kumar Mangala Memorial Shield went to them. Vivekananda Vidya Mandir School, Dhurwa, Ranchi students secured the second positions among all schools, with 49 prizes consisting of 15-1st prizes, 11-2nd prizes and 23-3rd prizes.Swami Madhavananda Memorial Shield went to them.
